Dean started his structural steelwork career in January 1999 as an apprentice at GCFitt in Barnsley. Starting out on the drawing board under the tutorship of Graeme 'Bill' Fitt, Dean soon moved onto 2D AutoCAD while also achieving his HNC in Engineering. November 2005 saw Dean move to one of the market leaders, Billington Structures, as Project Draughtsman (Design & Build) using 3D+ before moving on to Tekla Structures a couple of years later. Throughout Dean's 10 years at Billington's he worked on numerous projects, most notably
St George's Park, the English national team training centre, and Derby Velodrome, which was one of the first Olympic legacy projects.
Leaving Billington's in February 2016 as Technical Coordinator and Tekla Administrator Dean moved to Australian company Symtech, spending a couple of years working predominately on projects in Australia.
